a/n; this sequel is for all those who requested a, well, sequel. it has two parts btw.

It all started with a kiss.
Kidding.
Shim Changmin, an exchange student from Korea, has been struggling to adapt to the new environment he’s in. Although things aren’t much different in Japan, there are still some stuff he’s not used to, like eating alone during lunch. Back in Korea, he has friends to basically spend time with so he’s never alone, but he seems to have a difficulty gaining friends at the moment.
Language barrier? Nope, that’s not the case. Let’s just say he’s not that sociable. He’s a bit..shy.
“Uhm, excuse me,” So it’s really that of a surprise to him when someone actually approached him. “You..you kind of dropped this.”
“Oh,” he stands up and bows at the stranger, reaching out for his mp3 player. “Thank you..uhm..”
“Junno, Taguchi Junnosuke.”
“Ah, yeah. Junnosuke ssi—I mean, san..Junnosuke-san. Thank you.” he bows multiple times making his new found acquaintance chuckle. “I’m Shim Changmin by the way.”
Junnosuke nods, giving Changmin a warm smile. “It’s really nice to meet you Changmin-san. I have to go now, I..I’ll see you soon, I think.”
That particular incident at the cafeteria strangely makes Changmin’s day. Months of being friendless made him look forward into bumping into Junnosuke again. He usually stays at the library or somewhere secluded during free period but he finds himself strolling along the hallway in hopes of finding him. Sometimes, he gets creeped out at himself; he didn’t know he has stalking tendencies. Well, technically not since stalking requires following a certain someone but he’s not so..
..yeah, same difference.
When he hears Junnosuke’s voice from an empty classroom, his mood brightens up but immediately drops down when he realizes that he’s not alone. Since he doesn’t know anything about the guy other than his name, he’s not quite sure if the person he’s with is just a friend or something more. No, he’s not jealous, he’s curious.
He presses his ear on the door only to fall down the ground as it opens, much to his surprise. And boy was it so embarrassing. He receives shocked looks from the two and he awkwardly scratches his un-itchy head with a matching sheepish smile. “Uhh..hi?”
“Changmin-san?”
“Hey, Ju-Junnosuke ssi—san.”
“I don’t mean to be rude but why are you here?”
Changmin abruptly stands up from his current humiliating position and dusts away the invisible dirt on his pants. “I was..passed..I passed..yeah I did and I..I thought that..you know..”
“In human language, he’s eavesdropping.” Says the third wheel.
Junnosuke nudges the so-called third wheel on the side and smiles at Changmin, trying to get rid of the always awkward atmosphere. And mind you, he’s doing a horrible job at it. “Don’t mind him. He’s stupid. The name’s Akanishi Jin. Call him Jin or idiot, whichever works.” He grins at his self-proclaimed victory. Constantly getting bullied by Jin is infuriating but this isn’t his revenge. He has something in store for him.
Jin childishly mimics Junnosuke and walks away, leaving the two to talk. “He’s quite..different.” Changmin says as he watches Jin’s retreating back.
“You can say that again.”
“He’s quite different.”
The Japanese man stares at Changmin. Did he just really do that? Wow, he’s..never mind.
Later that day, the two are spotted in a café near their university. Changmin, surprisingly, had the balls to ask Junnosuke out, not on a date date, but a friendly one. “So..” Changmin trails off, sipping on his latte. “You don’t find me creepy, don’t you?”
Junnosuke’s brows furrow and he shakes his head. “No, not really. Why?”
“I don’t know.” He shrugs. “Well first, I’m gonna admit acting all weird in front of you. Then you find me sort of eavesdropping..”
“Oh so you were!”
“Yeah. Huh? No, I mean no! I’m not really..I just wanted to make sure if it was you so..yeah..it really was you.” Junnosuke nods and Changmin thanks the heavens that his new friend doesn’t find it disturbing (‘cause in his own opinion, it is). “Anyway, I’ve been meaning to ask you this. Ever since I came here, I had no one to talk to, to do home works with, to eat lunch with and all that stuff so I was wondering, can we be, you know, friends?”
“Of course!” replies the ever-so-jolly Japanese man. “To tell you the truth, I have no friends other than Jin so gaining a new one is really, really nice.”
“I wish my hyungs are here to meet you. I’m pretty sure you’ll get along well.”
“H-hyungs?”
“Ah, it’s Korean for older brother. They’re my friends but we’re like siblings so yeah, you get the idea.”
“You’re Korean?”
Changmin isn’t so sure if Junnosuke is kidding or not, but he nods anyway. “Since birth. I’m an exchange student.”
“Really? Wow.”
“Yeah. If I’m not mistaken, someone named Ryo was sent to my country.”
Their conversation is pretty much to get to know each other. There are interesting facts Changmin found out about Junno. Yes, he now has the permission to call him by his nickname.
Ever since their friendly date, Changmin daydreams a lot. He’s always looking forward to hang out with the guy. Fortunately for him, Junno isn’t a distraction when it comes to his studies, which is really a good thing. He could still concentrate in academics although Junno seems to be always on his mind.
“I didn’t know you like books.” He jumps in surprise, almost dropping his book when the library couch he’s sitting on dips down due to an added weight. “It’s just me.”
He calms himself down before proceeding to greet Junno with a smile. “Blame boredom. I don’t really like reading books but I have no choice. What’s up?”
“Hmm..nothing much. Hey, books are cool. You just need to read more and eat less.” Junno jokes.
A chuckle escapes his lips. “So says the eating machine.”
“Wanna go grab something to eat?”
“Are you seriously asking me that question? Since when did I turn down an offer involving food?”
“True that.”
Their frequent meetings turned daily, their relationship is getting intimate, and they’re unaware about that obvious fact. They walk hand-in-hand, they stuck with each other like glue, and even Jin is freaking out with their lovey-dovey acts. “Are you guys..dating?” he asks one time which startles the two.
Junno slaps his arm as he and Changmin laughs. “Don’t be silly. We’re just friends.”
“Oh, alright. But just so you know, Junnosukebe, you and I are friends too but you hate it when I try to hold your hand.” And with that, Jin walks away leaving a stunned Junno and Changmin.
That pretty much did it. The dreaded awkwardness came back and Changmin blames Jin for it. If only that stupid mouth of his didn’t blurt out such words then Junno wouldn’t find things unusual. Every time Junno sees him, the guy tries hard to avoid skinship which makes things all the more frustrating than it already is.
Jin notices the change and he couldn’t help but feel guilty since it’s technically his fault so the least he could do is make things back to normal. And in order to do that, he needs to talk to Junno, so he corners him during free period and drags him to their hangout spot.
“Forget what I said, okay? Pretend I didn’t say something stupid like that.” The only response he got is a confused look. “Okay. You don’t get me, do you?” and Junno shakes his head like a five-year old boy. “I was just joking alright. What I said about you and Changmin, I was just messing around with you so don’t take it to heart.”
“O-okay.”
‘Well that was easy.’ Jin thinks as he runs to Changmin for the good news. The two guys aren’t really in good terms since Jin thinks Changmin is a best friend stealer. But yeah, he’s just jealous so let him be. “Changmiiiiiiin!” he waves frantically at the sight of the tall person. “I have something to tell you!”
Changmin doesn’t look pleased seeing him but he still approaches the giddy man. “Uhh..yes?”
“I did it!” he jumps up and down and hugs Changmin which stuns the man.
“Oh, wow. You did what?”
“Junnosukebe!”
“What?!” came Changmin’s booming reply. “You two! You..you..”
Jin stares dumbly at Changmin for a moment before things sink in. “No! Eww, no! I wouldn’t screw that guy. Like eww. No! What I meant was I already talked to him and I think, I think you can touch him all you want without him going all paranoid and stuff. I swear it’s getting annoying everyday.”
Changmin agrees.
He has no idea how, when or why it all happened, but it just did. Let’s just say he wakes up one day and decides that he loves Junno.
No, it’s not fast. Well maybe it is. But hey, he can’t control his feelings.
He paces back and forth his room, trying to figure out if he really is in love or it’s just some kind of an infatuation. You know, puppy love. But the more he thinks about it, the more confused he gets.
“In my opinion, it’s positive. And mind you Changmin, my opinions are often true.”
“That’s because it’s yours.” Changmin has no idea how Jin became his confidante. Just like his feelings, it just happened. “Even if I have a thing for Junno, do you think he feels the same way?”
Jin pats him in the back. “Not really sure about that, dude. That guy is unpredictable. He’s not an open book, and he’s good at hiding his feelings.”
He sighs. “Well, let’s just see what will happen.”
For the past two months, Changmin didn’t notice anything about Junno that might help him find out if the guy loves him back or not. He gets distracted when a very close friend from Korea visits him. “Oh my God Kibum I missed you!” Oh God, how Changmin missed speaking his native tongue. Thank you, Kibum.
“I missed you too, Minnie.” Kibum uses the pet name which, apparently, Changmin loathes so he sends him a glare. “Oh come on! I know you love it no matter how cheesy it sounds.” And he’s not lying, Changmin’s just in denial of that fact.
He gives Kibum a tour on his home, school, and the whole place. “I live alone so it’s not that fun. I have friends at school though.” He thought he could add Jin to his list of friends. They walk around the school, hand-in-hand, just like the old times, no malice, when they run into Junno who looks flabbergasted at the sight. Changmin, too happy at Kibum’s presence, doesn’t catch Junno’s expression. “Oh hi!” he grins.
Junno smiles awkwardly and doesn’t say anything.
“I think, I’m not too sure, but I just think it would be nice if you introduce me to him.” says Kibum with a hint of sarcasm. Junno stares more, not really familiar with the language.
Changmin slaps his arm with his free hand but still follows his order. “Junno,” he starts, “This man right here..his name’s Kim Kibum, he’s a very close friend.”
Junno acknowledges him with a tight smile, a forced one at that, but no one really notices.
“And Snow White,” he switches back to his native tongue. “This beautiful man standing before you is Taguchi Junnosuke, and he’s mine so back off.”
“Not even gonna try.”
“What’s that supposed to mean? You—“
“Ano..Changmin-kun,” Junno butts in, really uncomfortable. “Can I be excused? I have to go somewhere important.” Changmin nods in response, both him and Kibum stares at Junno’s retreating back.
“Don’t you think that was awkward?” Kibum asks. “It’s like he doesn’t want to see me or anything.”
Changmin scoffs. “Impossible. He’s my ball of sunshine, he probably just had a bad day.”
And that is so true. As soon as Junno found out about Kibum’s existence, he doesn’t want him to feel the least bit welcome. That’s quite rude but you can’t blame him. “Why were they even holding hands? Are they that close? What right does he even have to hold Changmin’s hand?”
“I sense jealousy.” He jumps in surprise, turns around and gasps at the grinning Jin before him. “Hello there Junnosukebe!”
“What are you..why are you here?!”
Jin chuckles. “What? Now I don’t have the right to talk to you? My friend, if you’re angry at Changmin, don’t take it out on me.”
Before he could even respond violently, Jin already makes a run for his precious life. “That moron, I’ll get him someday.”
Junno has been sulking for the rest of the day, unknown to Changmin who is having a good time with Kibum. It’s been a while since Changmin came to Japan and Kibum is the first one to visit him so it really means a lot and it’s a totally big deal.
“Hey,” Kibum nudges Changmin on the side. “What’s wrong?”
Changmin shifts position and shakes his head. “Nothing, it’s just weird.”
“What is?”
“Junno, not texting me. He usually does when we’re not together.”
The shorter male frowns. “Have you tried sending him a message?” when Changmin nods, Kibum sighs. “Did you have a fight or something?”
“Snow white, we’re together the whole day. I didn’t even touch my phone.”
Kibum ponders about it for a moment before clasping his hands together, startling Changmin in the process. “I think he’s jealous.”
“Jealous?” Changmin laughs. “There’s nothing to be jealous about.”
“Well, yes, that is true, but does he know that?”
“Well, no, it would be awkward if he does.” Changmin sighs, hanging his head low. “He has no clue about the me-liking-him thing.”
Then someone clicks on Kibum’s mind. “Oh, oh! So that’s what you’re worried about!”
Toss and turn.
Sigh.
Toss.
Turn.
Scream.
Door opens.
“What ha-why the hell are you screaming in the middle of the night?!”
Junno ignores and turns his back on his cousin. “Can’t sleep.”
“If you can’t, let others sleep!” his cousin almost screams in frustration before stomping away, slamming the door close in the process.
“What is wrong with me?” he asks himself worried that he might be thinking too much.
