Fact and Fiction

Title: Fact and Fiction
Pairing: Minho/Taemin
Genre: fluff ; romance ; angst
Rating: PG-13
Length: one shot
Summary: There is a big difference between fact and fiction, just like reality and expectation.

a/n; since everyone’s almost writing about these songs, i’mma give it a try. but it’s not based on the songs itself though, just the title.

Minho is excited, too excited in fact. Two days ago, he had gotten an invitation to Lee Taemin’s birthday party – getting it wasn’t really a surprise, the thing is, they’re already friends and yet the other still bothered to send him an invitation. He finds it quite ridiculous. He racked his brain to think of a nice gift for the guy. The gift needed to be nice and romantic as well so he settled for a necklace which had Taemin’s initials in it. He is dressed in a tight black skinny jeans, high tops and a casual graphic tee topped with a baseball jacket and he wondered if what he’s wearing is alright for the party, but since it’s Taemin’s party, anything’s alright.

He knocked three times before the door opened revealing a grinning Taemin. “Hey birthday boy.” He greeted him with a hug, just what they usually do. And when Taemin extended out his hand, he knew what that meant. He fished out the box on his pocket and placed it on the other’s palm. “Appreciate it.”

And Taemin did. “Thanks Minho hyung! I was really looking forward to your gift.”

“I know, kid.”

“Stop calling me that!” the birthday boy whined and Minho just had the urge to ruffle his hair. “Come on, the party’s inside.” He took Minho’s hand in his and dragged him further inside his apartment.

People were there, lots of them - familiar faces and some unfamiliar ones. Although he is Taemin’s close friend, the guy has other friends as well but he couldn’t hog the guy just so he could spend time with him. He settled down the couch for a moment while he watched Taemin walk around the house and entertain some of the guests. The music was loud and he felt himself moving to the beat of the music, his head bobbing and his foot tapping the floor. “You don’t seem to be having too much fun.” The other side of the couch dipped and Taemin was sitting beside him. “Are you bored?”

“No, not really. Just…” he took a sip of his soda and stretched his arms. “Just looking around for some potential company.”

“Well then, do I have the potential?”

“Hmm…maybe?”

“Oh come on!”

He chuckled and stood up, Taemin watching his every move. “Come with me? I need to tell you something.”

“Why bring me here? There’s a party at my house, and it’s mine. I’m like, supposed to be there.” Taemin stated. Apparently, Minho thought it was nice if he brought Taemin to the nearest playground to have some peace and quiet. “You know, we should’ve just talked in my room. I mean, it’s not that—“

“I like you.” Minho felt everything stop, even his own breathing. He just blurted out the confession, far from what he practiced. Yes, practiced. He looked at Taemin who looked clearly stunned at his surprise. “Say something, please?” In a matter of seconds, he got tackled on the ground by a squealing and spazzing birthday boy. He couldn’t contain his happiness as he tightly hugged him back.

They stayed there, lying down the ground side-by-side, hands intertwined as they stared at the starry night sky.

“You should’ve told me sooner.” He glanced at Taemin who was directly staring at the sky. “Then I should’ve just celebrated my birthday with you, not with all those people.”

“Well, if it wasn’t obvious, you already abandoned them for me.” both of them chuckled; enjoying each other’s company and the peaceful environment, Taemin’s party had been long forgotten.

Fiction – something feigned, invented or imagined.

“No, not really. Just…” he took a sip of his soda and stretched his arms. “Just looking around for some potential company.”

“Well then, is there someone here that interests you?

He stared at Taemin, hard. “Nope, none.”

Taemin was getting slightly uncomfortable with his stare and couldn’t look at him straight in the eyes. The boy stood up and he just watched him. “Come with me? I need to tell you something.”

The birthday boy brought him to the kitchen where an unfamiliar guy is sitting down the chair and stuffing himself with some food. Minho thought Taemin would shoo him away for their privacy but he didn’t. “Minho hyung,” Taemin’s next move had him taken aback. “I want you to meet Jinki hyung, my boyfriend.”

Kidding aside, Minho felt his soul leave his body. What was this? A joke?

Talk, dammit. Talk! He kept telling himself. But no matter how much he tried, no words came out of his mouth - his lips was dry, his throat was dry. Someone save him please. A few moments after he had slightly recovered from the shock, he did what he should do.

“Congratulations.” He was thankful that his voice didn’t crack. He glanced at the wall clock and bowed. “I remembered I have something to do for my mom. Sorry for leaving your party this early, Taemin ah. I have to go.” He didn’t wait for a response as he found himself running his way back home. No, not home. Just…wherever his legs took him.

Who was he kidding? Him, confessing to Taemin? That’s actually some utter bullshit. He showed no interest in the guy other than friendship, he couldn’t imagine the reaction Taemin would give him if he really did confess.

Well, he just has to look on the bright side - at least he didn't get dumped.

Fact  – something that actually exists ; reality ; truth.

This was short, sweet, and to the point. But awww, poor bb. ;_;

I really liked the way you put in the 'Fact' and 'Fiction' part though. It was very creative. ^^ I could tell right away that poor Minho was dreaming after I saw that.

Great job! :D
