As he was strolling down the beach, Yoochun met someone interesting.
{edit: rewritten. revised. re-everything}

A loud scream echoed throughout the four walls of his room then Junsu found himself drenched from head to toe. He jumped out of bed, cursing. “What the hell.”
“Ah, you’re awake I see.”
He huffed, directing a glare at his brother. “What was that for, hyung?”
“To wake you up…the fun way.” Jaejoong even had the nerve to grin at him.
“Fun, you say?” he marched out of his room and came back with a pail in his hand. Before Jaejoong could process what was going to happen, he was already soaking wet.
“Yah, Kim Junsu!”
“You’re right. It’s fun!” Junsu crossed his arms, grinning at his fuming brother. He watched as Jaejoong ran a hand through his wet hair. Suddenly, the man screamed.
“I hate you!”
Junsu scoffed. “I hate you…”
“Stop copying me!”
“Well I wa—“
“What’s going on here?” Both irate men turned to see their sibling looking at them weirdly. “Aren’t you two too old to be fighting? And can someone explain why you’re both wet?”
“He poured water on me.” Jaejoong replied over a pout.
Junsu gasped and pointed a finger at Jaejoong as he retorted. “He started it!”
Hyukjae rolled his eyes. “Right. Okay, just stop it.” He sighed. “Sometimes I feel like I’m the hyung. You two are too childish. Anyway, go get ready. We’re going out.” Two pairs of confused eyes confirmed his suspicion that they had no idea what he was talking about. “Mom’s birthday…don’t tell me you forgot.”
“Well…”
“Just go get ready fast, okay? Or else I’ll leave you two.”
“So, why are we going to the mall again?” Ryeowook inquired, glancing at Yoochun at the backseat while Jongwoon kept his eyes on the road.
Yoochun shrugged. “I don’t know.”
“You mean, we’re going there for nothing?”
Jongwoon frowned. “Don’t mind him, Wook. Let him wander like a lost soul. I have something planned for us.”
“Aww, that’s sweet.” replied Ryeowook, leaning close to Jongwoon as he gave him a peck on the cheek.
“Go get a room.”
“Don’t be jealous.” Jongwoon told him. “Go find a boyfriend.”
Yoochun groaned as it reminded him of Junsu. It’s been three months and he’s starting to lose hope. There are millions of people in Korea. I doubt I’d ever see him again, he thought sadly as he ignored the pang in his heart.
Junsu rolled his eyes, ignoring his blabbing sibling. He was not interested in whatever Hyukjae was talking about, because really, their mom wasn’t choosy. They could give her anything for her birthday and she’d appreciate it. It’s the thought that counts, they say. Sensing his boredom, Hyukjae turned to look at him. “Are you even listening to me?”
“Uhh, me? Yeah, sure.”
“So, what do you think?”
“About wha— oh, I think that’s great.” he replied, not knowing what he was talking about.
“Okay, perfume it is.”
“Right, yay.” Noticing that the eldest was nowhere to be found, Hyukjae asked him if he’d seen him. “Over there.” he replied, pointing at the direction of the music store. He has spotted him eyeing an electric guitar earlier.
“Let’s go.”
Junsu shook his head “You go first, I’m going to check out the record bar. I’ll buy some stuff.”
“Sure, call me when you’re done. I’ll make sure Jaejoong hyung doesn’t talk to strangers.” They both chuckled as they went their separate ways.
Junsu was scanning the CD rack when he suddenly bumped into someone who fell flat on the ground. “Oww shit. My butt hurts!”
He was quite surprised as he helped him up, muttering an apology. Looking at the stranger’s face reminded him of someone. Someone very familiar, he just couldn’t quite grasp the thought. Both were starting at each other for quite a while when a sudden thud of a fallen CD broke their gaze. “Oh!” Junsu jumped in surprise. “I’m…uhh…I’m sorry. Are you alright?”
The other man just stared at him and it was making him a little uncomfortable. “Don’t I know you from somewhere?”
He frowned. “Excuse me?”
“You. Don’t I know you from somewhere?”
“No. Do you?”
“Why are you asking me?”
His frown deepened. “I was asking for reassurance.”
The man sighed almost exasperatedly. “The reason I asked you is because I don’t know myself. Hello!”
“I was being polite!” He protested, stomping his foot on the ground. The man was starting to piss him off but he doesn’t want to make a scene in a public place so he tried to calm himself down.
“And I was being literal!”
“Hey,” Junsu argued. “I just helped you get up.”
“Well you’re the reason I fell in the first place.”
Crossing his arms, Junsu scoffed. “You’re childish.”
“You started it!”
“I did not!” And just then, they paused to see quite a number of people staring at them. They both composed themselves and started putting some of the CDs that fell back into place. Somehow, both thought that those simple ranting felt familiar, but both brushed it off. After all, they just met.
“Hey…”
“What?!” The man was obviously surprised with Junsu’s rude tone. “Take it easy, man. I was just going to apologize.”
“Good!”
“What’s wrong with you?”
“Me?” Junsu scowled, and then pointed a finger at the frowning man. “What’s wrong with you?”
“You’re w—“
Both paused as they both let their feelings sink in.
This seems…so familiar.
They both fell in daze once again. It was like extreme déjà vu.
“Who are you?” The man managed to ask.
“I don’t give me name to strange—“
“Just answer the question, please.”
With a sigh and a pout, Junsu finally gave up, raising his hands in defeat. “Fine. I’m Junsu. What’s your name, stranger?”
“Yoochun…my name’s Yoochun. Junsu, do you…want to grab a bite?”
Junsu raised a brow at the strange offer. “Are you gay?”
“Huh?”
“I’m starving. Let’s eat.”
“Unbelievable,” Yoochun muttered under his breath. He gritted his teeth and started to follow Junsu. Something in the guy felt familiar, he felt attached to him in a way. But how obnoxious Junsu is bothered him to no end.
“So, what do you want to eat? Look, I’m sorry for the way I acted. If anything, I’m willing to travel the past with you.” Junsu spoke as he smiled rather gorgeously at Yoochun and it melted the latter’s heart, not to mention all the fuzz just a minute ago, forgotten. “It seems like I feel attached to you. Well, somehow.”
Together, they had a great time at the mall but were getting a little bored so they decided to stroll around the park. So far, Yoochun learned that Junsu likes music so much, he’s just too shy to actually let it out. And Junsu saw Yoochun’s childish nature to be quite appealing. Their afternoon was filled with jokes and new insights from the other. Both knew that they would cherish these moments.
They watched the sunset together, it all felt so familiar and really comforting, somehow. Knowing that having the other beside them, it couldn’t get better.
They laid on the grass, inhaling the fresh evening mist. For two complete strangers, they sure didn’t treat themselves as one. “Hey, you know that man a while ago? I can’t believe he didn’t see that ice cream slam coming!” Junsu said as he laughed weirdly, but Yoochun didn’t mind.
“I know. But I found you slipping on the ice cream even funnier.”
“You bastard!” he glared at the laughing Yoochun for a moment and then laughed with him.
“You seriously rolled down your butt!” The laughs subsided in a couple of minutes. “Want to eat?”
“Again? Sure. You practically wore me out.”
If Yoochun didn’t drag him to places, they wouldn’t be this tired. “And you’re blaming me, ice cream butt!”
“You’re no fair!” Junsu huffed hungrily.
The two settled at a little shop by the river, continuing their teasing, jokes and stories. When Yoochun excused himself for the restroom and stood up lifting his bag, something fell off. “Oh, hey, Yoochun ah, you dropped this!”
“Ah, that. It’s—“
“Where…did you get this?” Junsu started to eye the object thoroughly. Mainly a notebook and it looked like the notebook he lost nearly three months ago. When he looked at Yoochun questioningly, the man just smiled and sat back down.
“You see,” Yoochun started. “There’s this man, a friend of mine. I met him at a beach three months ago during a vacation. I guess he must’ve left it there and I kept this in hopes of returning it to him someday.” It was now Yoochun’s turn to look at the other with a puzzled expression. “H-hey, is something wrong? Are you feeling alright?”
Junsu examined Yoochun’s face once again, and opened the notebook. There it was…
“You’re him, aren’t you?”
“I’m who?”
“You’re the snappy guy at the beach. You snatched my notebook away from me and forced me to sing for you!”
Yoochun’s eyes widened in realization. “That was you? I knew it!” He couldn’t help it, it was like a knee-jerk reaction. He swiftly stood up and bent down to hug Junsu, his Junsu. He never would’ve thought.
“W-what are you doing? Get off! You’re embarrassing me!” Junsu struggled to get out of his embrace.
He sat back down again, totally guilty and embarrassed from what he did. “I’m sorry! I didn’t know. I’m…I mean, I never thought…well you…I…”
“Alright already, geeze. “ Yoochun hung his head low, extremely embarrassed of his actions. He was just too overwhelmed by the fact that his heart is still beating rapidly. “To be honest, I…forgot.” Junsu confessed. “I forgot you. But I never forgot what happened that day. And it felt so much like today.” He clutched the notebook tightly on his hands and tried to remember the day they met, how they teased each other, watched the sunset and enjoyed each other’s presence. “It’s good to see you again.”
“It’s good to finally know it’s you.” Yoochun said with a smile.
“What are you talking about? I was referring to my notebook.”
“What? You little—“
“Calm down Chunnie, I was joking.”
Yoochun laughed. “That was— wait, Chunnie?”
“Yoochun! I meant Yoochun.”
“Right…Su.”
And just like that, both entered each other’s lives locking it safe in their hearts. Surely, that moment will be the one they’d never forget. But not all things you have, you get to keep.
“It was nice to see you again, Yoochun.” Junsu hugged the other man tight, realizing the feelings they both held for each other. They cannot deny it now, they won’t even be able to try. “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“About that…” Yoochun was hesitant, but he had to say it. It would hurt too much, but he had to. “You see…I…”
Junsu laughed at him, poking him in the arm. “What’s wrong? Bit your tongue?”
“I need to move away.”
There, he said it. He finally said it. Junsu’s bright smile dimmed down.
Why?
Just when they found each other again. “I have no other choice, I’m sorry. I’m glad I got to return your notebook.”
Both forced a smile.
“That’s alright. At least I got to meet you again today, right? Yah, you read my notebook, didn’t you?”
“No! I didn’t.” Yoochun denied quickly. He was telling the truth. “Trust me.”
“Can I really?”
“Why are you always blaming me?!”
Laughter filled their empty spot again, but it’s sad to think about reality right now.
“Remember that time you wanted me to sing for you at the beach?” Junsu asked, reminiscing the past.
“Yeah, you got mad at me.”
Junsu just smiled and started singing. Every note, every scale was perfect. His eyes were fixed on Yoochun the whole time, hoping that it would express how much he feels even though they don’t know when they’d meet again. They’re sure they’d find some way to find their time.
Yoochun enveloped the man in his arms. Both wished the moment would last. Yoochun, who initiated the hug, was the first one to pull away. “Could you kiss me?”
Not even feigning surprise, Junsu chuckled lightly. “I believe the right term for that is can I kiss you, but what the hell…” He leaned closer to finally taste Yoochun’s mouth. They both wished for time to stop right now. Unfortunately, time was made to prevent mistakes and they weren’t an exception.
“So…I’ll see you later?”
Yoochun smiled. “Yeah.”
Both finally went their separate ways.
It’s been two years since then. Junsu finally got some encouragement and became a singer working for a company in Seoul. Yoochun, on the other hand, had a stable job working as a company’s CEO. Both were very happy.
And they didn’t really forget about each other.
And even thought they won’t be seeing each other anytime soon—
Scratch that.
Maybe they will.
“Ah, you’re awake I see.”
He huffed, directing a glare at his brother. “What was that for, hyung?”
