a/n: HAPPY TO BE NAPPY REFERENCE.
Changmin opens the front door only to see his older brother and his dejected look— the toddler makes a mental note to give his hyung a piece of his strawberry-flavored lollipop his best friend gave him yesterday (because it’s yummy and sweet and it makes him happy. Yoochun hyung would love it!)
“Hey, kid.” Yoochun ruffles the young boy’s hair as he enters.
“Hello, hyung.” He greets back, observing his brother’s behavior. He picks up the bag Yoochun carelessly dropped on the floor and places it on the couch. A soft sigh escapes his lips as he watches his older brother pace back and for the living room, nose scrunching up once in a while.
Whatever is wrong with Yoochun is a mystery yet to be solved. The boy cringes when Yoochun let out a cry of frustration. He slides his hand down his pocket, ready to take out his half-eaten chocolate, hoping that it would somehow make his hyung feel a little bit better. He was feeling a tad horrible this morning because he woke up later than usual and just missed an episode of Teletubbies. A bar of chocolate was all it took for him to stop sulking. Maybe…maybe this could work. Maybe, his Yoochun hyu—oh my god did he just use the F word…ten times?
Changmin gasps, eyes widening to an extent. He has never heard his brother speak such language and it doesn’t sound nice at all. That’s it. He takes the hand out of the pocket and approaches his cursing brother, tapping him on the legs. The cursing teen stops pacing and looks down, confusion written on his face. “You want anything, buddy?” he asks.
The younger one points an accusing finger at him. “We need to talk, hyung. Now.”
Yoochun raises an eyebrow, almost chuckling but figures it’s nothing funny and since when did Changmin learn how to glare? “Uhm, yeah, sure.”
As the brothers settle down the couch, Yoochun wonders why he’s having this talk with his baby brother. Maybe he needs money, he thinks but shrugs the thought off when Changmin tries to clear his throat but chokes instead. He had a minor coughing fit but recovers soon enough. “Hyung, tell me.”
“Tell you what?”
“The matter! What is wrong with you? You keep on spouting the f word and it’s making my ears bleed!”
“Kiddo, you’re only seven. You can’t speak to me like that.”
The kid scoffs, swatting the hand away from his hair. “I just fixed it thank you very much. And hyung, how can you belittle me? I know I’m younger, cuter and not to mention, smarter, but I am your brother and I care about you. I feel sad when you’re sad and I’m happy when you’re happy.”
“I can’t believe I’m having this conversation with you.” Yoochun says with a roll of his eyes. “What do you want? Ice cream? Chocolate? Ramyun? Hitsumabushi? What?”
“Hyung,” Changmin whines knowing that Yoochun couldn’t resist his cuteness. “You can’t fool me. I’m Changmin. Don’t be fooled by my looks.”
Fine, Yoochun thinks, if telling him something would make the kid shut up then so be it. It’s not like Changmin could actually help him. What does a little kid know other than eating and playing and doing kid stuff?
“I had a fight with Junsu,” he starts. “I didn’t know that it would turn into an argument. I got overboard with my teasing and now he won’t talk to me.”
“Why?”
Good question, Yoochun notes. Why is he letting a toddler know about his love problems? And why does he feel like Changmin is bullying him?
“I don’t know. Because he’s mad? I was pretty harsh so it’s understandable. But what I don’t understand is everyone teases him about his humongous butt and when I make fun of it, he becomes furious.”
“You know hyung,” There’s something in Changmin’s tone of voice which makes Yoochun want to listen. “You love Junsu hyung and he knows that. Of all people, the person he least expects to make fun of him is you. You were supposed to back him up not humiliate him further. If people are different…you don’t…it’s like…you don’t have to make fun of them because it makes the other person really sad and that might really hurt their feelings.” Yoochun stares, slightly unable to process how his little brother could say such things.
Changmin sighs, a pout forming his lips as he continues, “Like, I know how Junsu hyung feels because people would make fun of me because my front tooth is missing. It's just like a balloon, and you blow it and blow it and blow it and it pops! It's just like your feelings. You know, hyung, if there was a fairy...and I'd call up...and I knew the fairy's phone number I would call her and tell her Hi! Can you please make teasing stop? Because I'm really getting annoyed." The toddler finishes his speech with a small smile. “I hope that made sense.”
Yoochun could only nod and hug his little brother. He doesn’t know where he learned things like these but man, the little dude is full of awesomeness and that is another reason for him to adore the kid more. “Oh my god, Changminnie, you might know too much for your age which is way beyond creepy but I still love you.”
“Hyung,” Changmin whines, squirming in Yoochun’s arms. “Let me go, I can’t breathe!” Yoochun does and ruffles his hair for the third time. “Not the hair!”
“Okay, kiddo, come on. I have to treat you ice cream and we’re going to Junsu’s place after, okay?”
Changmin sighs but accepts the offer. Yoochun would probably use him to make Junsu forgive him. “Why do I have to do the dirty job?” he asks himself.
